Dot Day

Dot Day: For this activity, we used coffee filters, markers, sharpies, crayons, oil based writing utensils, and water color to create a heart/dot for National Dot Day. First, we drew on the filter with writing utensils that would not blend with water color (Ex. crayons, sharpie). Next we used markers, oil based crayons, and other items to draw on the filter. These did blend in with the watercolor which is what we used at the end to blend everything together.
Extension Activity: I would allow students to collaborate together and create a long line of dot day projects with paperclips. Students would connect their art to each other and we would hang it up somewhere in the classroom. Students would be able to see their masterpiece when it is all hung up at the end. This would allow students to work together and collaborate to create something even bigger than what they made with their coffee filter.
